Peregrine Falcon Nest Box Live Cam from Orange New South Wales Australia. A study carried out by Charles Sturt University in Orange is conducting a research project using live cams to study the diet and behaviour of a family of peregrine falcons nesting in a water tower since 2007. The live cams operate year round and provide valuable data on the birds' habits.
The most recent season saw a single male chick named Yurruga, meaning 'sunny' in the indigenous language Wiradjuri. Unfortunately, Yurruga did not survive harsh weather conditions shortly after fledging.
The project relies on donations to cover running costs, as all staff are volunteers. Donations can be made through the university's online store.
The peregrine falcon parents, Diamond and Xavier, have been nesting in the tower for twelve years, successfully raising an average of 1.5 chicks per season. The live cams offer viewers a unique opportunity to observe the birds' courtship rituals, nest building, and hunting behaviors throughout the year.
